Form couple of days, we have been hearing in India for a boycott China movement. Starting from small children to well educated matured person, everybody has been in the same line. But have any of us have ever thought whether it is practically possible to boycott entire Chinese products? Let us throw some lights on the same

We have heard only the mobile brands like MI, Vivo, Oppo etc and some of the Chinese television sets. But do you know that from a small safety pin to big inductors, capacitors, China has a hold on every product. Today, not only India but the consumer markets of the whole world has been vastly captured by China. What makes them do so. The simple answer is the unconditional support of Chinese government. You know Chinese government provides subsidy for their manufacturers to export in different country. You will be shocked to know that the consumer market of America which is the world’s powerful country is also been taken over by China. So, on a short run it is practically not possible to boycott China. I hope you all remember the clash between Indian and Chinese army in Doklam on 16th June 2020. During that time also we were at the same tune of boycott China but with times, everything came back to normal and the consumer market was operational with multiple Chinese products.

Alternative of Chinese products in Indian Market

There is vast scope for replacement of Chinese products. Many such products are being manufactured in Taiwan which is an absolute enemy of China. The Indian government should entertain the Taiwan products imposing less import duty and high import duty in Chinese products. What will happen is the Chinese products will become expensive and the Indian consumer market will be taken over by Taiwan in a long run.

Secondly, the Indian government should subsidize local manufacturing in India to give scope for better penetration into the market. But yes, over to all of them above, all the manufacturers should keep customer’s intent or buyer’s persona in mind to keep a strong hold in the market.

Capturing markets internationally

As I explained above that China has captured the world’s consumer market in a vast manner. We should know what exactly is the pinpointed approach that China applies? It is nothing but understanding the consumer need. What the end consumer wants? Let me give an example. Banarasi saree is well known and is much admired in the Indian market. But did the government or the manufacturer tried pushing those into the international market. Yes, they did once to Sudan, but was rejected since those sarees were manufactured according to Indian heightened women and not Sundanian women height. This clearly proves that we did not understand the customer need. Not only Banarasi saree but also there are a hell lot of products which could be pushed to International market and could be a better alternative to Chinese products. Some of the Indian products list Banarasi saree, Sambalpuri saree, Khadi materials, Ayurveda products, Indian spices and many more. If the Indiangovernment either give subsidy or make the export duty extreme less, then there is a huge opportunity for the Indian market to penetrate internationally.

My View – The Indian government should start centers for skill development in every corner of the country and provide subsidy for Indian manufacturing. Should also lessen the export duty for international market penetration. Overall, if we see then the government need to play a vital role in this revolution. And yes, last but not the least, with times, things will change. Overnight nothing is going to happen.
